About Us

We Mean Business!

One of Clallam Economic Development Council's primary missions is to assist incumbent businesses with expansion or retention needs. 

The Council also supports new business investment to diversify the economy and create family wage jobs.  We provide confidential assistance, including: information regarding site-selection, labor force, training, tax incentives and access to financing.

Business Investment and Development

The Council encourages new business investment.  The Council provides assistance, which may include:

  • Site identification and selection
  • Job training information
  • Intergovernmental coordination for large complex projects
  • Access to Financing
  • Securing incentives    

Partnerships

The Council provides its broad range of services in cooperation with state and local governments, community college, Washington State University's Small Business Development Center and the Small Business Administration's SCORE program. The Council's Board of Directors and membership represent a broad range of business sectors plus local and tribal governments.

Business Counseling

The Council also partners with other agencies to provide individual business counseling to assist new and existing businesses. Counselors have a broad range of management experience and are provided through the following:

  • SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) provides free, individual counseling for start-up businesses. For local assistance, contact the Clallam County Economic Development Council at 360-457-7793. Counseling is available by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Port Angeles.
  • SBDC (Washington State University's Small Business Development Center) provides free, individual counseling to assist new and existing businesses with business planning, market development, financing and management. For local assistance, contact Kathleen Purdy , Business Development Specialist by e-mail or at 360-417-5657.
  • Washington Manufacturing Service (WMS) is a not-for-profit organization with a singular goal:  to help make Washington manufacturers more competitive. WMS has the ability to link manufacturers with both local expertise and hard-to-access national resources.

Demographics and Economic Information

The Council maintains economic and demographic information to serve your business analysis needs. The Clallam County Community Profile is a compilation of economic indicators, utilities, tourism, real estate, taxes and income. This Community Profile includes the census data and is updated annually with local data.

The council, in an effort to support our mission and strategic plan has developed a repository of information, research and publications to date. Realizing the enormous benefit this information has on our business and community, if they know about and have access to it. Information is time sensitive and the value is in getting it now.
