Clallam County Child Care Assessment

In collaboration with Wendy Bart of the Olympic Peninsula YMCA, the EDC received a grant from the Dept of Commerce with a matched grant amount through the Seattle Foundation/Safestart to hire a Community Organizer in charge of researching our current Child care needs for Clallam County and establishing a county wide Alliance to support our Employers, Workforce and Community members.

The EDC is pleased to announce we have hired a Community Organizer, Lynn Keenan, to gather this information over the next few months, and put together a sustainable course of action for our rural region.

Lynn Keenan is a social worker trained specifically in social development in rural communities. She has a rich background in social work from the mountain towns of Colorado to the Olympic Peninsula where she helped establish a graduate program in social work for the University of Washington in the late 1990s. Immediately prior to coming to the EDC she worked for three years as the Manager of Outreach and Patient Navigation for our local Community Health Center, North Olympic Healthcare Network. Prior to that she was the owner/manager of Renaissance Wellness Center in Port Angeles for 14 years.

Lynn brings both business experience and social work skills to her role as Community Organizer for the EDC’s new efforts to enhance the capacity of our communities’ child care profession.

Please reach out to Lynn at lkeenan@clallam.org with any info or concerns you may have within our Child care industry in Clallam County.
