Pre-pandemic we were already short about 350 licensed child care slots.
But now, with all the unmet job openings in our child care centers the unmet need is growing due to strict child:staff ratios.
Fewer staff = fewer child care classrooms.
We have a rich range of child care centers in our County, from large centers like the Children’s House of Learning at the Lower Elwha, to Head Start, to inspiring local child care centers like Sequim’s Little Explorers and Comfort and Cozy in Port Angeles. Visit this Saturday’s Child Care Job Fair and talk with the owners and directors of these caring centers about the work they do in the lives of the kids they serve. You might get so inspired you’ll apply for a job before you leave! Vern Burton Center, 10:00 am to noon.
